Greg Myka, Molten Metal of NY — I create one-of-one artworks from steel, wood, and other reclaimed materials, exploring the tension and harmony between industrial permanence and the organic character of the natural world.
My work is rooted in my fascination with wildlife, rugged landscapes, and the places that leave a lasting impression on us. I am particularly drawn to the strength, resilience, and quiet presence of animals and the environments they inhabit. I translate those experiences into dimensional works that invite the viewer to look closely—not only at the subject, but at the materials themselves.
Steel gives me strength, structure, and permanence. Wood brings warmth, history, texture, and imperfection. Rather than concealing those qualities, I build around them. Natural patinas, weathering, grain, scars, irregularities, and surface character become part of the visual language of each piece.
Every work is individually hand-cut, shaped, welded, finished, and surface-treated in my studio. I deliberately avoid CNC and automated production methods because the physical interaction between artist, material, and process is fundamental to the work. The marks of that interaction are not flaws to be removed—they are evidence of the hand and part of what makes each piece singular.
My practice moves between two and three dimensions, allowing steel and wood to extend beyond the traditional boundaries of wall sculpture. I am interested in creating work that changes as the viewer moves around it, revealing shifts in texture, shadow, depth, and perspective.
At its heart, my work is about connection: between the industrial and the organic, between strength and vulnerability, and between the viewer and a place, animal, or experience that carries personal meaning.
I want each piece to have a presence of its own—to be more than an object on a wall. My goal is to create singular works of art that can be experienced today and remain meaningful for generations.

Step 1: Connect with Me
Click the connect button and fill out the short form. Let me know when it is best for you to talk.
Step 2: Collaborative Energy
Connection is at the core of the process. Let’s get to know each other. Let’s talk about your project; what topics you have in mind, where will this be displayed, what size considerations do you have, budget, are there others that I need to also work with (such as an installation contractor), where you are located and what we could expect for deliver.
Also, please share how much, or little, you want to be updated on progress. Some clients love the anticipation and want to wait until the finished project is delivered. Others want periodic updates when there is something substantial to see. This is up to you. Let me know your preferred frequency and mode of contact.
Step 3: Followup
In this next meeting I will present you with a more refined proposal that is based on our initial connection. I will share a draft design/concepts, content, context, materials and framing. We can discuss our integrated heavy-duty french cleat for hanging, and talk about any installation considerations you have. At this stage I welcome any and all feedback you have - this is your piece. Let’s keep this stage of the progress going until we get it right!!
Step 4: Agreement
Once we have your project details worked out we I will send you a proposal and request a deposit (typically 50%). When the deposit is received, I can procure materials, place your project on the schedule and get to work.
Step 5: Action!
The fun part - I get to work! During this step I will be cutting, shaping, grinding, and welding. I will also be communicating with you on the progress, but more importantly, I will be reaching if critical decision making or collaboration is needed. You can always reach out to me if you have input or a new detail popped in your head over morning coffee!
Step 6: Finalization and Delivery
Your project is done, now we have to get it to you.
We will discuss delivery options, such as: me bring it to you, you come and get it, I crate it up and we use common carrier, your contractor come for it, etc. It doesn’t matter what we agree on - just make it fun and easy for you!
